If you want to provide your students with engaging, hands-on practice, then this place value resource is for you. You will get a center activity and 5 value of the digit sorts with varying difficulty. The most advanced sort goes to the hundred thousands place. Use these sorts for independent practice or copy them onto colored paper, laminate, and use as a math center. Place value sorts make a great worksheet alternative.
Why use these place value sorts
Understanding the value of each of the digits is a foundational skill needed to master expanded form and expanded notation. These activities are especially beneficial to struggling students and gives them the foundation they need in order to be confident in math.
This resource was designed to support TEKS 3.2A – compose and decompose numbers up to 100,000 as a sum of so many ten thousands, so many thousands, so many hundreds, so many tens, and so many ones using objects, pictorial models, and numbers, including expanded notation as appropriate
- center sorting activity (color & ink friendly)
- 5 sorting mats
