Google Forms are a great tool for teachers who are assigning work digitally. There are so many great reasons to use Google Forms in your class. Whether you are teaching in a traditional setting or through distance learning, Google Forms is a free tool that will save you precious time.
The best reason to use Google Forms is the auto-grading feature. This is a no brainer. Who doesn’t love saving time? The time you previously spent grading assignments can now be used to analyze assignment data and plan for remediation. Google Forms offers many different types of answer choices to choose from. Multiple choice and short answer questions are the best options for self-grading assignments.
Once an assignment has been submitted and graded, you can look at the collected data within Google Forms. You can see an overall view of how your students performed, which questions were missed, etc. This chart quickly shows me how my class performed overall.
You can also view individual student data. This allows you to view each question and see how your students answered.
You have the option to have the data imported into Google Sheets with just one click. Once the data is in Google Sheets you have the ability to add filters and sort the data however you like. Now instead spending all my time grading as assignment, I spend my time analyzing how my students performed.
Easy to assign
Google Forms are tremendously easy to assign and there are several options for you to choose from. I assign my Google Forms work in Google Classroom so that all the assignments are in one central location. Your other options are to embed the Google Forms link on your class website or to email the form to your students.
Easy to customize
No more “one size fits all” digital assignments. Modifying Google Forms assignments only takes a few minutes and changes are automatically saved in Google Drive. Google Forms offers flexibility with the option to easily change the questions, answer types, and point values. easy to print
Even though Google Forms are a great digital tool, another reason to use Google Forms is they are easy to print. If you have a student who needs paper assignments, you have the option to print your Google Forms activities. You can find out more here.

If you’ve been wanting to give Google Forms a try, I have a free set of Google Forms quick check assessments for area and perimeter in my Teachers Pay Teachers store. These quick checks were designed for 5th grade but can also be used for 3rd and 4th grades. I use these quick checks in my classroom all the time.
